Houston Rockets Notes, Quotes 2009-11-05

Houston Rockets Notes, Quotes 2009-11-05--For most of the night, the showdown of Trevor Ariza and Ron Artest -- free agents who basically traded each other for one another -- did not amount to much. There were, however, two memorable exchanges.

In the first half, they faced off, drawing double technical fouls. In the final seconds, they traded three-pointers that sent the game to overtime.

The first exchange was even more memorable.

"He tried to put his hands on my neck," Ariza said. "Nobody is going to try to put their hands on my neck or punk me. That ain't happening. But I don't have any hard feelings. It was just emotions, you might say. It doesn't matter."

Artest did not argue, but said Ariza initiated their exchange.

"I wanted to (grab Ariza's throat), because he hit me with an elbow, but I didn't," Artest said. "It was a thought, you know, but then I thought about David Stern, and said 'OK, I'm not going to do this.' But I was a little upset."

--The Rockets took their first injury of the season -- not including the absences of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady -- with Chase Budinger turned his left ankle in the fourth quarter Monday against the Jazz. Budinger had held out hope he would be able to play against the Lakers, but was still sore and was held out of the game. "A little stiff, a little sore," Budinger said. "It shouldn't be something that will linger. I think in a couple days I'll be better.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We played hard, as hard as any game you can play, and to come up short hurts." -- Chuck Hayes.
