Houston Rockets Notes, Quotes 2009-10-30

Houston Rockets Notes, Quotes 2009-10-30--Rockets forward Luis Scola was struggling badly since coming back from his ankle injury. He made 1-of-6 shots in the season opener on Tuesday and 2-of-5 in the first half on Wednesday. Then he hit the first three-pointer of his career (in seven attempts) and took off. Starting with the trey, Scola made 8-of-11 second-half shots and finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. "I believe it was the help I needed to get it going," Scola said. "I was playing pretty bad before that. I was talking to myself and saying, 'You have to keep playing hard, keep running, keep going, keep trying to be active and sooner or later, good things will happen.' I got a little break and got that shot and soon, everything changed.

--With the Bay Bridge closed, the Rockets had to find alternate transportation to get to the game. They considered a police escort, but were told even that could not avoid the traffic jams throughout the Bay Area. They looked into taking the train, but were told the trains would be packed at that hour. They settled on a very different way, taking the ferry from San Francisco to Oakland, before boarding busses to the game. "This is the first ferry I've taken," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said. "But you know, it wasn't bad. It was a beautiful day, nice weather. The only difference I could see was we left earlier. It worked out really good."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's a very big win because (of the back-to-back) and also because of the opener to the season for Golden State. You always have a little more excitement when you play the first game and you play at home. It's difficult to get wins on the first games of the season and on the road for us. So it's a huge win and we have to keep going." -- Luis Scola.
