--Against the Jazz, G Aaron Brooks struggled, but G Kyle Lowry had 17 points in the second half to drive the Rockets' comeback. A game later against the Suns, Brooks rolled to 30 points, including the game-winning drive.
This, the Rockets said, is the sort of guard by committee they expected. "I think that combination with (Lowry) and Aaron is going to be very good," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said.
"With Aaron, and with Kyle (Lowry), there's going to be growing pains," Shane Battier said. "When they have flashes like tonight, we know they are destined for big things. That's the most important thing. When (Brooks) plays like he did tonight and has the confidence, you can tell he is going to do great things in this league."
--With his career-high 30 points, G Aaron Brooks took as many shots (20) as he has in a game in his two seasons and made more (11) than he ever has.
"I didn't want (Steve Nash, who scored 32) just to score on me and not make him have to play any defense," Brooks said. "There is no way to get Nash tired, he's a phenomenal athlete as far as condition-wise. I just wanted to make sure I went at him like he went at me."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "The shot clock was running down. I wanted to get Shaq (O'Neal) in it, but I was a little bit too close and I got a little bit past him and laid it up. I was relieved. Steve Nash played an incredible game. I didn't want him just to score on me and not make him have to play any defense." -- G Aaron Brooks, on his game-winning shot.
